Nawā - Date container

Nawā is inspired by the date palm and the tradition of welcoming guests with dates, a ritual deeply rooted in Qatari culture. The layered wooden structure draws from the palm's natural growth, translating its rhythm and repetition into a contemporary serving object.

Each wooden layer represents a stage of the date's ripening, progressing from light golden tones to deep browns. Enclosed within a transparent glass cylinder, the changing colours reveal the natural journey of the fruit while celebrating the craftsmanship and materiality of the object.

A dedicated compartment at the base collects the date pits, returning them to the origin of the date palm's life cycle. Together, the container becomes a layered narrative of growth, ripeness, and renewal, rooted in the material culture of the date palm.
