Tableya : Boundless Creativity with the STUDIO NUCLEO
“Tableya” is a traditional Egyptian dining table where families gather to share food and stories — a space for connection and community. During a field trip to Torino with the MFA department, I had the opportunity to reimagine this concept through a hands-on workshop in collaboration with Studio Nucleo.
Over the course of a week, we designed and built a series of tea tables with aluminum legs and resin tops. Each design drew inspiration from our individual cultural backgrounds, resulting in a beautiful family of “similarly different” tables. Eighteen participants from eleven nationalities came together, and the diversity of perspectives shaped every part of the process — from sketching and experimentation to casting and final polishing.
It was a week of intense making, exchange, and reflection — a true celebration of shared heritage and collective creativity.
